A bit of Pridefloat History:

Pridefloat used to be known as the Show Me Pride Float Trip. We officially changed our name in the summer of 2001. It all started in 1985 with a small group organized by Jeff Williams -our “Founding Father”. In 1992, the annual shirt tradition started and the event was officially named the Show Me Pride Float Trip. Jeff Williams and Ron had their Holy Union on the float in 1995-pic below. Jeff Williams and Ron are in both pics. Also pictured is Craig Schuppe (holding a beer). Jeff Williams ran the float trip from 1985 to 1995 when he passed.

  

Starting in 1996, the Show Me Pride Float Trip changed leadership. Another Jeff - Jeff B. and Monty Lemrick and Owen G. took over. the first website for the event was launched in 1998 on AOL. The name was changed to Pridefloat in 2001. Your Camp Daddies are: Jeff & Nico, Greg and Dan, John and Peter, Owen and Ron. We are ALL volunteers for you to have a good time. Jeff and Greg are the only 2 people still involved who were involved with, or attended the event when Jeff Williams ran it. Guess you could say we are the "old timers." The float used to be held every third weekend of June. We were almost flooded out again in 1998. So that year, the event was re-scheduled for the third weekend of each July.

OK - so what is it all about?
Pridefloat is about a bunch of gay guys and gals from all over the Mid-West (mostly Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Illinois) camping together for five days and four nights and having a good time. 2007 saw 15 different states represented! Wow! Each year we have a blast making new friends and seeing our old ones again. Pridefloat is open to gay men and women, couples, singles, and gay friendly Heterosexuals. Pridefloat is one place where gay men and women can actually get to know each other, understand and appreciate our differences, and have fun together. We feel there is not enough events that incorporate gay men and women together as equals. We have many who return each  year. First timers often leave saying "I will be here every year from now on." The weekend goes by way too quickly.

 

You will enjoy up to five days and four nights of camping at Pridefloat -(Thursday thru Monday), a FREE Beer Bust Saturday evening, and floating down the river on Sunday in your choice of a canoe, raft, or kayak for the low price of $35.00 per person!!! You'll have to look pretty hard to find a better deal than this. You may arrive on any day, however we will float as a group on Sunday. If you arrive before Thursday, you will be charged an additional $4.00 per person per night for camping and the fees will be collected by the Campground owners - not Pridefloat staff. Your entry fee reserves you a Sunday float, not a Saturday one. If you want to float on Saturday, you will need to contact the outfitter yourself and reserve and pay for canoe in advance. E-Mail us for the outfitters phone number. Usually they are sold out of canoes on the preceding Saturday. The fee is $35 per person and it does not matter when you arrive. Every person that camps with us pays the $35 flat fee. There are no discounts for late arrivals or not wanting to float with us.

We operate on a reservation system ONLY. We no longer accept walk-ins.

 

Where is it?

 

Everyone brings their own camping equipment and food. Most people bring tents. We have a few pop-ups and RV's. (See Campground Info) And yes, in the evenings there is some nudity - men and women. LOL.
